Oak Trees Planted This Week

As you can see from the pictures, it wasn't easy to get such a big truck out on the course. The problem is that if we wait until the soil is really dry and firm, it will be too late to plant the tree. Trees are best planted before they leaf out in the spring when the weather is cool. This gives them the best chance for survival. We planted three Red Oaks: one on the left side of number 8 and two between 11 and 15. We had planned on planting one more on number 10 near the location of the large cherry that we removed last year but we were not able to get the truck in there without risking a lot of damage to the course. We will have to re-evaluate whether we should plant a tree there or not.
