The Rough!

There have been many comments on the rough this spring...some love the intermediate cut and longer rough and some hate it. The one constant is that we get complaints on the rough every spring. Click on the following link to read an article recently written by a USGA agronomist. This article applies whether there is an intermediate cut or not.

Other than not being able to keep up with the fast growing rough, things are going well. The aerator holes took a little longer to heal than normal. This was due to the week of excessive heat we received right after aeration. It seems the grass was not ready for that kind of heat this early on. Areas all over the course looked pretty stressed out (as did my lawn at home) and the aeration certainly helped identify areas where there was poor rooting! Everything is back to normal now and the grass has loved the cool nights.
