Rainout!

This morning we received 2.5 inches of rain in about 2 hours which must be some kind of record. Our drainage system is overwhelmed and we have closed the course until noon. This is especially concerning because the heat and humidity remains. This combination of saturated soils and high temperatures can spell disaster for putting green turf. We are going to be very conservative with our greens right through the weekend. They will be slow from a players perspective but our goal is to keep them from declining which can happen rapidly in these conditions. The hot, humid weather is supposed to break on Saturday...unfortunately with more rain in the forecast...
