Now That's a Spicy Meatball!

We are experiencing very high disease pressure at the moment - the highest I have seen in many years. Rain combined with lots of heat and humidity are a recipe for all sorts of turf diseases. The picture above shows what our course would like like if we did not have access to pesticides. On the left side of the golf ball is the fairway and part of the intermediate cut which have been previously sprayed to control diesease. The right side of the ball is untreated and what all of our fairways, tees, and greens would look like if we did not spray. This particular disease is called dollar spot and will continue to grow and kill grass right through the fall. I am not going to get into the debate over the relative safety of pesticides but please realize that if we did not have them, our golf course would look and play very differently.
