The recent rain and warm nights have really helped. Most of the damaged areas are showing very good seed germination right now. We have topdressed, fertilized, and encouraged recovery as much as possible. Areas where germination was not as good have been re-seeded. We are still early in the process but signs are encouraging so far. The new greens on 11 and 12 are also progressing very nicely. We need continued warm weather and timely rains to really help us out and kick the recovery into high gear.

Good germination on damaged areas of #2
We are almost finished cleaning up all of the tree damage from the ice storm. We have certainly created a huge amount of mulch around the course. I think I can safely say that all of our staff has seen enough of chainsaws, wood chippers, and stump grinders! We track all of our labour in the Greens Department and we have spent 48% of our labour cost on tree cleanup this spring. This has come at the cost of completing a myriad of little detail jobs around the course to get it back into shape. Next, we plan on tidying up many scarred areas around the course with fresh sod. It's been a difficult spring so far but we are making progress towards getting back to our usual high standard of maintenance. Thank you for your patience and understanding as the recovery process continues.
