Covers Installed...

With snow in the forecast for this week, we decided to install our winter covers today. We cover 10 of our 18 greens with solid plastic covers. The covers help protect against ice damage but are not a silver bullet. If put on too early, left on too long, or if the wrong weather conditions arise, they can create damage of their own. If the temperature gets too high under the cover, growth can be stimulated and snow mould protection compromised. That is why we monitor the temperature under the covers all winter long. The covers themselves provide no insulation so a nice blanket of snow to moderate the temperature is best.
The installation of the covers is the last step to prepare the golf course for winter so we are now officially ready for snow!
