Winter Update #3

Hopefully the warm temperatures forecasted this week will melt the snow and ice that has accumulated this winter. I would like to see it all disappear so that we can see the turf underneath and get an idea of how the course has wintered. We are ready to apply more black sand to enhance the melting if necessary. The best case scenario would be for the greens, tees, and fairways to clear of ice and snow and stay that way to avoid any freeze/thaw cycles. I will keep you updated as we go through this critical time.

On another note, I was very fortunate to be in California recently and have the opportunity to play The Cypress Point Club. As I am sure you know this club is ranked in the top 3 golf courses in the world and it did not disappoint. A few things really stood out: the bunkering was spectacular in how it fits the landscape and in many cases the bunkers "melt" into the natural sand dunes. The yardage was surprisingly short at 6524 yard from the back tees. With a slope of 140, it was difficult but not so difficult that it beat you up. And of course the ocean holes did not disappoint.

I have attached a few pictures below - click to enlarge them.
