A cool, dry start...

 A Frosty #4

What a spring we're having!  The weather has been a little on the chilly side but many golfers have taken advantage of the early opening to get the rust off their games.  There have been numerous frost delays and it has also been quite dry.  In fact, I can't remember watering so much so early in the season.  The cool, dry weather has slowed the growth of our turf and we really haven't had to do much mowing yet.  The slit drainage lines on fairways 8, 9, and 16 haven't filled in much either.  Remember, they are by definition ground under repair so you get a free lift if you land in one of them.  Speaking of ground under repair, we have prepared many areas throughout the course for sod and these areas are also g.u.r.  Green Horizons is not delivering sod until next week and we will be one of their first customers once they get going.  Our goal is to get these areas cleaned up by the end of next week.

The early season has also meant the call back of the seasonal green staff.  We are fortunate to have a solid core of returning employees as well as a nice crop of new employees.  We are training the new staff (and reminding the returning staff) about all aspects of course maintenance and etiquette.  Please bear with us as everyone gets up to speed.
